Fred Smith Obituary, Death – Princeton Man Remembered by Family and Loved Ones at 86

Fred Smith, of Princeton, West Virginia, formerly of Orient, Ohio, passed away on Monday, August 31, 2026, at the age of 86. His passing has left family and friends mourning the loss of a beloved father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and friend.

Born April 19, 1940, in Pikeville, Kentucky, Fred was the son of the late Willie and Nancy Jane Smith. Throughout his life, he built lasting relationships with his family and those around him.

Fred was preceded in death by his wife, Carolyn Smith; his daughter, Rose Walters; and several siblings, including Marie Smith, Clifton Smith, Bob Smith, and Clarence Smith.

He is survived by his children, Dan Smith and his wife Anita, Melinda Short and Robert East, Steve Smith and his wife Toni, Jennifer Farley and her husband Joe, as well as son-in-law Steve Short. Fred also leaves behind 12 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren, along with his siblings Joe, Donnie, Roger, Greg, Paul, Burl, and Michael Smith.

Fred’s family and friends are now remembering the years they shared with him and the memories that will remain with them following his passing.

Visitation was held September 8 at Wellman Funeral Home in Circleville
