Curtis Cole Obituary, Death – Findlay Retiree and Dedicated Cyclist Remembered at 79
Curtis “Corky” Cole, 79, of Findlay, Ohio, passed away peacefully at Bridge Hospice Care Center on Sunday, January 11, 2026, following a long and courageous battle with cancer. His death marked the loss of a beloved husband, father, grandfather, friend, and longtime member of the Findlay community.
Born September 18, 1946, in Fostoria, Ohio, Curtis was the son of the late Carl and Daisy (Culp) Cole. He was remembered for his gentle personality, friendly smile, kindness, and sense of humor. His family and friends especially appreciated his ability to make people smile with his characteristic dad jokes.
Curtis married Christine Williams in 2004, and the couple shared more than 21 years together. He is survived by Christine, his stepsons Matthew Meyers and his wife, Angie, and Sean Meyers and his wife, Lisa, as well as his stepdaughter Lisa Goshe and her husband, Matthew. He was also a proud grandfather to nine grandchildren, whom he considered his own.
Professionally, Curtis dedicated 35 years of his career to Honeywell before retiring. He then spent more than 15 additional years working in maintenance at TLB Corporation. Former colleagues remembered him as a personable and dedicated worker and boss.
Cycling was one of Curtis’s greatest passions. According to his obituary, he had accumulated more than 38,000 miles on his bicycle since 2000. The Slippery Elm Trail was among the places where friends and acquaintances frequently encountered him enjoying the outdoors and pursuing the hobby he loved.
Curtis also enjoyed hiking, gardening, and traveling. His faith was another important part of his life. He was a member of College First Church of God in Findlay, where he and Christine spent many years helping teach divorce care classes and supporting people going through difficult periods in their lives.
His community remembered him not only for his professional dedication and love of cycling, but also for the warmth and generosity he showed to others. One former colleague recalled him as a great boss and noted that Curtis could often be seen riding along the Slippery Elm Trail.
A visitation and memorial service were held Saturday, March 28, 2026, at Coldren-Crates Funeral Home in Findlay. Pastor and longtime biking companion Terry Steinhauer officiated the service, and Curtis’s ashes were to be buried at Fountain Cemetery in Fostoria.
Memorial contributions were suggested to Cancer Patient Services, the Wood County Park District’s Slippery Elm Trail, or the Armes Family Cancer Care Center in Findlay.
Curtis “Corky” Cole will be remembered for his gentle nature, humor, dedication to his family and career, commitment to his faith, and passion for cycling. His 79 years left lasting memories with the many people who had the opportunity to know him.
