Miles Collette Obituary, Death – Gilford Man Remembered for His Adventurous Spirit, Generosity and Love of Life
Miles Alexander Collette, 32, of Gilford, New Hampshire, died in the Lakes Region on September 12, 2026, leaving behind family, friends, and a community grieving the loss of a beloved son, brother, and friend.
Born March 10, 1994, to Deirdre Connelly and Robert Collette, Miles entered the world surrounded by family. His grandmother, a midwife, helped deliver him, and his family remembered his childhood for his bright eyes, curly hair, memorable smile, and the happiness he brought to those around him.
Miles was known from an early age as someone who naturally looked out for others. His family described him as a leader who made sure people felt included and was willing to stand up for anyone who needed support. As a child, he enjoyed camping and exploring the American West with his mother and became something of an unofficial captain among his cousins.
His life was also marked by an extraordinary childhood experience. After an ice storm-related car accident during elementary school, Miles spent 10 days in a coma. He eventually recovered and returned to living life with the same enthusiasm that would characterize his adulthood, earning the affectionate nickname “Miracle Miles.”
As he grew older, Miles continued to seek out adventure. He enjoyed dirt bikes, snowmobiles, heavy equipment, and motorcycles, embracing activities that reflected his energetic and adventurous personality.
Friends remembered Miles not only for his love of adventure but also for his generosity, loyalty, quick wit, and ability to make people feel valued. One friend recalled spending time with him at their home just one day before his death, describing him as someone whose company was always enjoyable and who would willingly give someone the shirt off his back.
Miles is survived by his mother, Deirdre; father, Rob; stepfather, Tony; stepmother, Tina; grandmother, Becky; siblings Seamus, Patrick, and Alyssa; numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, and nephews; and Fallon, whom his family described as the person he loved most.
Calling hours will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday, September 18, at the Carriage House at Wilkinson-Beane-Simoneau-Paquette Funeral Home in Laconia.
A Celebration of Life is scheduled for 2 p.m. Saturday, September 19, at Gilford Beach. A motorcycle procession will gather at Patrick’s Pub at 1:30 p.m. before traveling together to the beach.
In lieu of flowers, Miles’ family is encouraging people to honor his memory by embracing adventure, enjoying life, and carrying forward the spirit with which he lived.
Miles Alexander Collette will be remembered for his courage, generosity, humor, loyalty, and determination to live life fully. Though his life was far too short, the memories he created will remain with the many people who knew and loved him.
